Over the hill and through the woods
The German novelist Theodor Fontane once rambled through the Havelland and wrote about it in his delightfully picturesque 'Ramblings through Brandenburg'. Today, the Havelland remains a great place for a hike. Roam the vast countryside. Keep your eyes open and you may spot some of the many storks, cranes and eagles in the area.
Gentle landscapes
The region is rich in hiking trails, offering a great choice of possible tours. The vast region with its fields and meadows, the Havel River and the astounding simplicity of the village churches keep you from dwelling on the tedium of everyday life. To the south you will find the 'Naturpark Hoher Fläming' nature reserve where ambitious hikers will discover greater challenges.
On horseback
Horse lovers will also find a lot on offer in the region. There are a number of horse ranches that offer horse riding holidays, riding lessons for beginners and rides into regional nature reserves.
